Central Heat was formed with every intention of being cutting edge and breaking away from the typical three and four man rock groups that dominated the Washington DC region back in the late ‘70s and early 80’s.
Realizing it’s passion for traditional and contemporary rhythm and blues, Central Heat soon discovered it’s roots deep-seated in blue eyed soul music, a term used to describe R&B or soul music performed by predominately white artists similar to Average White Band, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, the Spencer Davis Group, Michael McDonald and of course Oakland’s legendary Tower of Power.
Providing a powerful rhythm section, scorching guitars and an unsurpassed horn section, Central Heat has been described as one of the most unique groups to emerge from our Nations Capital playing straight to the core rhythm and blues music with a lot of funk elements and a great deal of soul attitude.
